RULES DOCUPOLIS 2007 

HOW TO ENTER DOCÚPOLIS 2007

1. Professional filmmakers, students and amateurs are welcome to participate at Docúpolis, as well as schools, institutions, television stations and production companies.

2. To submit your film for consideration, you must complete and submit Docupolis´s online entry form by the 15 of June, 2007. The information about the competition on our website www.docupolis.org, as well as the eligibility and the entry form. The submission fee for the Festival is free.

3. The copies of the documentaries have to be sent by standard mail, either in DV to the following address:

All the participants will have to send a copy of their work in DVD
format. Make sure that the packing is the correct, to guarantee the
good condition of the content, as well as, the correct reading disc.
Other supports will not be accepted, only DVD.

4. The submission deadline is June 15 , 2007 the date of the postmark without exceptions. Any documentary turned in after this date is automatically out of competition.

5. All the films must have been completed after January 1, 2006.

6. For exhibition purposes, the Festival requires a minimum quality of DVD format.

7. The selected documentaries for the competition will be screened in video format Betacam SP/PAL

8. Each participant can submit more than one documentary, but only one for each category: Best Documentary, Best Short Documentary and Best Opera Prima.

9. All the films must be submitted in their original language with subtitles in Spanish, Catalan or English.

10. Once your film is selected, a Betacam SP PAL format copy of the work must be sent in before September 1st , 2007. Betacam Digital will not be accepted.

11. Besides the copy in Betacam SP PAL format, it can also be sent all the promotion material for the media as well as the catalogue for its diffusion at the festival.

12. The selected participant will give the rights of the images of its work, in which case will never exceed 30 seconds used as a promotional material of the Festival.

13. The selection committee is formed by well known professionals in the audiovisual and cultural scene, which have the legal authority to not award prizes if its members so stipulate. The members of the selection committee are not allowed to participate, in any capacity, in the films submitted to the contest.

14. All submitted works (whether selected or not) will be included in the festival archive (DVD copy). Any type of profit-making usage on the part of the institution is forbidden. For any other type of release of the film, the owner's permission is necessary.

15. The expenses for sending the copies have to be covered by the participants. The devolution of the copies in Betacam will be covered by the festival.

16. Awards: To be eligible for the “Gran Angular” TVE Catalunya Prize, the film has to be between 21 and 25 minutes, free of royalties, directed by unknown author and not be screened before on the circuit of Catalan television. TVE Catalunya will provide a First Prize of 3.000 €.
In case of receiving a prize, the authors will give the screening rights to Televisió de Catalunya, for three turns during three years.
In order to participate in “Opera Prima” it has to be the author´ s first documentary and it has to be free of copyrights. Ermedia is in charge of distributing the documentary winner.

17. All the documentaries submitted to the Festival will be part of our new section called "La Botiga", our exclusive space for professionals who want to buy, distribute or to program documentaries.

18. Submitting the online entry form means the acceptance of all this guidelines.
