Checkpoint received the Docúpolis award 2004
The documentary Checkpoint of the Israeli Yoav Shamir won the Docúpolis Award for Best Documentary past sunday night at the end of the festival.
The film was not only chosen by the judges, but also awarded points with a full audience during screening on saturday. The production starts at Banco del Oeste and Franja de Gaza, where more than 3 million Palestineans live under Israeli occupying forces.

The awardening of the prize was held at the Center of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (CCCB), where not only Checkpoint was honoured, but also La casa de mi hermana for Best First Work which contains the distribution of the documentary through the company Ermedia. Kung Fu 2003 received the award for Best Shortfilm by 33 from the Catalan Broadcasting Station and 92 y SQ.M. Rusia – A Kommunalka IN. ST. Petersburg got the award for Best Documentary on Urban Subject from the CCCB. Grissinopoli, el país de los grissines won as Best Latin American Documentary.

Awards of Tercer Ojo were confered on Sahara Maratón for Best Human Right Documentary and Resisting Paradise for Best Experimental Documentary, while Si nos dejan was chosen as the audiences favourite. Two documentaries were specially mentioned during this years Docúpolis: Resisting Paradise, which participated in the competition of Best Documentary, and Mujeres in the category Best First Work.

At the closing conference the award El Hombre de la Cámara was presented to the work of Santiago Alvarez. The Prize was picked up from Lazara Herrera, the wife of the 1998 deceased cuban film-maker. Now, one of his documentaries, closed the festival.
