GORAN RADOVANOVIC, PROTAGONIST OF DOCÚPOLIS 06 RECOVERY

The Serbian filmmaker will attend the projections of his films in the VI International Documentary Film Festival of Barcelona and will participate in a meeting with the public.

Recovery is one of the most veteran parallel activities of Docúpolis, and its objective is the presentation to the audience of works and authors that on the one hand have an important prestige in the documentalist world but on the other hand they are not known as they should in a local scale. In previous editions the festival recovered the works of authors such as Artvzavad Pelechian, or the critical production around the 30 anniversary of the military coup in Chile.

This year, Recovery is dedicated to the Serbian documentalist Goran Radovanovic (Belgrado, 1957). The work of this filmmaker observed a before and after of the Balkans conflict. Until the war Radovanovic was dedicated specially to the fiction, but the economic crisis and the political situation brought him to essay a documentary cinema which, from that time, he has not stopped to work deeper. It is a cinema that gives importance to what some times it seems limitations, like the scarcity of film material and the necessity to work in multiple different formats, to work with what you have in your hands. And it is a cinema that in front of the war and the horror it answers with a sarcastic boisterous laugh. Documentaries like Casting (2003), where girls are called to participate in a stocking commercial, or Chicken Elections (2005), where an old woman can not learn how to use a mobile phone that someone has given her as a present, they give an idea of the humoristic poetry of Radovanovic.

A part from the programmed Works until Sunday, the audience of Docúpolis will be able to attend a meeting with the filmmaker on Saturday 7th October at 18h00 in the Hall of CCCB.
