CARMEN GUARINI WILL HELD A SEMINAR IN DOCÚPOLIS 2006 

The prestigious Argentinian documentalist and anthropologist will make a reflection about the relations of “Cinema and Memory”, a seminar for professionals and documental studious in Docúpolis 2006. 

Carmen Guarini is one of the most interesting personalities of the South American cinema. Documentary director, anthropology teacher at the university that studied with Jean Rouch, and producer and founder of the group CINE OJO, her experience is a meeting point for the practice, theory, action and reflection.

From 1985 has directed several committed documentaries with the social reality of her country, among others, about the collectives Madres de la Plaza de Mayo (La voz de los pañuelos, 1992) or H.I.J.O.S. (H.I.J.O.S. El alma en dos, 2002). Her production work and the friendship with people like Jean Rouch, Fernando Birri or Edgardo Cozarinsky, made her person become a solid reference point in the cinema’s world.

Her presence in Docúpolis festival, in Barcelona, offers a singular and perspicacious voice that will share her experiences in the seminar “Cinema and memory: Illustration, interpellation or rewriting the past?” The seminar will take place in the SGAE-Fundación Autor’s seat in Barcelona (Fundación Autor is the co-organizing of the event with the Tercer Ojo Association), afternoons from 2nd to 6th October.

Carmen Guarini’s seminar is one of the several parallel activities of the 2006 edition of Docúpolis – Internacional Documentary Festival of Barcelona that will present, from 4 to 8 October, more than 100 documentaries in CCCB.
