DOCÚPOLIS EXPAND ITS FORMATIVE OFFER WITH THREE MASTER CLASS

In this edition, besides the parallel Seminar of the festival, there will be three meetings with documentary professionals.

The attention to the formative area that from the beginning has been a constant in Docúpolis, SE CONCRETA this year with the creation of one of the parallel sections, a part from the habitual Documentary Seminal. The new section, called Masterclass, is focused to consolidate the festival as an educative and meeting point within that people interested in documentary’s world. Three young experts that have a recognized prestige, offer their point of view about current subjects to professionals, students and aficionados.

Masterclass is formed by three meetings that will take place in the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) on the 5th, 6th and 7th October from 11 to 14h.

The first class will be held by Elena Rodrigo, specialist in documentary film distribution that will talk about this kind of work from the practice view, from promotion to diffusion. On the 6th October, the artist and composer Jacobo Sucari will be the next teacher and he will propose an approximation to new documentary strategies using several fragments of expanded formats and video-installations as examples. Álvaro Silva, sonidist formed in the Escuela de Cine de San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba), will close the cycle with a speech about the specification of the sound working in the documentary cinema from his experience with directors as Patricio Guzmán, Javier Corchera or Icíar Bollaín.

Docúpolis 2006 educative offer is completed another year with the Documental Seminar organized in collaboration with the Asociación de Cine y Vídeo Tercer Ojo, and the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) and Fundación Autor. In this occasion the Seminar will be held by Carmen Guarini, one of the most interesting figures of the South American cinema. Documentary director, anthropology teacher in the university that studied with Jean Rouch and producer and founder of the group CINE OJO, her experience is a meeting point for the practice, theory, action and reflection. The Seminar will focus on the paper of the documentary cinema in the construction of the historic memory and the conflicts that come from it. It will take place in the seat of SGAE (Paseig de Colón nº6) the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th October, from 16 to 20h.
