THE PLASTIC ARTIST FERNANDO ALDAY PAINTS A PORTRAIT OF JORIS IVENS

The piece correspond to the Honorific Award El hombre de la cámara, that this year recognises the trajectory of the great Dutch documentalist.

Fernando Alday is a well-known Chilean artist that from 1993 has presented regularly his work in Barcelona (Sala Montcada, Museo Textil, Vinçon, Galería Artur Ramón...). His pieces are delicate figurative collages made from paper pieces from the most various materials (wrappers, receives, transport tickets…) that become alive again in portraits and daily scenes. For the Honorific Award El hombre de la cámara, Docúpolis has ordered to Fernando Alday to make a portrait of Joris Ivens. The work will be given to Marceline Loridan-Ivens, director’s widow and President of the European Foundation Joris Ivens, during the round table about the figure of the documentalist that will take place on Friday 6th October at 20h00 in the Hall of CCCB.
